The South-Eastern Kenya Investment Coordination Mechanism (SEK)

The South-Eastern Kenya Investment Coordination Mechanism (SEK)

The South-Eastern Kenya (SEK) Investments Coordination Mechanism unites the USAID Implementing partners from across three counties, including-; Makueni, Kitui and Taita Taveta. The network, launched on October 3rd 2019, is convened and chaired by USAID- Feed the Future and Food for Peace Programmes.

The membership to the mechanism is USAID and USAID IPs due to the following reasons;

  • The Mechanism will allow USAID to coordinate and increase efficiency among its implementing partners, reduce duplication, promote transparency and mutual accountability between USAID/IPS and the three county governments.
  • It will allow USAID and the IPs to be consistent and coherent in the programming approach to resilience since different development partners define and employ different approaches in their programs.
  • The mechanism will improve accountability and coordination across USAID technical offices as well as mutual accountability among its partners.
